DJays Gourmet was established in 1985 by Derek and Jo, a couple who had immigrated to Australia from South Africa. Derek, a highly skilled butcher, and Jo began making biltong for their friends and family, and soon the word spread throughout the community about their delicious products. The demand for their biltong and dried sausage became so high that they had to work tirelessly to keep up with it.
In 1999, DJays upgraded to a custom-built factory in Malaga in order to distribute their biltong and jerky products across Australia. Today, the business remains family-owned and run, with multiple generations involved in its operation.
DJays is now considered to be Australia's leading supplier of packaged jerky and biltong, with a strong focus on producing high-quality products and providing excellent customer service. Their products are sold in major Australian retail stores such as Ampol service stations, BWS and Dan Murphy liquor stores, IGA supermarkets, PUMA Petroleum, and many other retail groups and outlets.
